Press release XX-14

Francisco N. González Díaz, CEO of ProMéxico, and Ramiro Hernández García, Municipal President of Guadalajara, officially opened the ProMéxico Global Guadalajara forum, an event that promotes dialogue and the exchange of ideas on the latest trends in foreign trade.

This edition of ProMéxico Global is based in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Its aim is to boost business and promote foreign trade among the companies of neighboring states—Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Michoacán, and San Luis Potosí. The ProMéxico Global Guadalajara forum projects the region’s strategic sectors supported by four main themes: investment in Mexico, exportation, internationalization, and Created in Mexico.

It is worth mentioning that this edition has two new features that will increase the business opportunities of Mexican companies abroad. The first is that it will be given a sectored approach, allowing the advancement of those companies that represent the industrial vocation of the states. Furthermore, on this occasion efforts will be more concentrated on promoting companies in the information and communication technologies sector, given the region’s strength in that area.

The second new feature is the match-making round that will link Mexican suppliers with international buyers that could form part of their supply chain. With this in mind, five hundred business meetings will be held with more than 130 Mexican export companies from the information technologies sector, who will meet with around thirty international buyers.

“I am sure that through this first business round as part of ProMéxico Global, new business and Mexican exports will be achieved in the world,” said Francisco N. González Díaz, head of the Institution.

Due to its deep industrial vocation, the western region plays a key role in consolidating our country as an export platform and investment destination. Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Michoacán, San Luis Potosí, and Jalisco account for around 14% of the country’s exports. The region also contributes 16% of gross domestic product. Sectors like agri-food, automotive, electrical-electronics, creative industries, fashion and design, and information technologies, have found the area to be the ideal place to thrive.

Global companies like Honda, HP, Intel, IBM, Ooyala, and Oracle, among many others, have chosen Jalisco as an investment destination because of its competitive advantages, which has led to the creation of thousands of jobs and the strengthening of its production capacity. “This fact helps to position our country as one of the leading services exporters in Latin America. For this reason, Jalisco was chosen as the site to build the first Digital Creative City in the country, which will be the heart of the creative industries in Latin America,” the CEO of ProMéxico added.
